Justin "Chunk" Chaney

Justin “Chunk” E. Chaney, 44, of Thomasboro, IL left this world entirely too young on the afternoon of Saturday, August 5, 2023 at his home.
He was born April 2, 1979 in Urbana, IL a son of Gayle and Gerry (Gilmore) Chaney.
He is survived by his father Gayle Chaney of Rantoul, IL, his mother Gerry Gardner of Rantoul, a half-brother Chad Chaney of Decatur, IL, 4 step-sisters, Angie (Jim) Hannagan of Gifford; Jamie (Corey) Evans of Gifford and Tracy (Ben) Gernertz of Gifford and Crystal Forth of Champaign.
He was preceded in death by his beloved shih tzu, Dakota.
Chunk was a graduate of Rantoul Township High School where he played football and basketball.  He worked construction and was a member of the Laborers Union Local 703 for over 20 years.  He was employed at the University of Illinois for a number of years.
He was a die-hard Cardinal fan and an avid Illini fan.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday morning at Peace Lutheran Church, Thomasboro.  Rev. Michael Stoerger will officiate.  He will be buried at Beckman Cemetery, Thomasboro.
Visitation will be from 5 – 7 on Friday evening at Lux memorial Chapel, 1551 East Grove, Rantoul.
