Aidan Bletscher, 18, of Rantoul, formerly of Gifford, passed away on the morning of Sunday, July 23, 2023, at home.
He was born April 8, 2005, in Urbana, a son of Tim and Elizabeth (Davis) Bletscher.
He is survived by his father, Tim Bletscher of Gifford; his mother, Elizabeth King of Gifford; a brother, Colton King of Rantoul; a sister, Hadley King of Rantoul; his paternal grandparents, Dave and Rhonda Bletscher of Gifford; his maternal grandparents, Whitman and Gretchen Davis of Rantoul; his paternal great-grandfather, David S. Bletscher of Rantoul; and his maternal great-grandparents, Ernest (Sherri) Hoopingarner of Buckley, Kathleen (Bill) Sheets of Foley, Ala., and Willie Davis of Champaign.
He was preceded in death by an uncle, Kendric Davis; a cousin, Karolina Joy Bletscher; and his stepfather, Andy King.
Aidan loved animals and was known to nurse many strays. He volunteered at the Illinois Fire Service Institute in Champaign, where he was just about to start his first full-time job. He enjoyed wintering in Golf Shores, Ala. He was a big-time gamer and enjoyed farming with “Papa Ivan Young” on his farm. He was also a Steelers fan.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Gifford. The Rev. Scott Guhl, Gary Maxwell and Priscilla Gerdes will officiate. Burial will follow in Huls Cemetery, Gifford.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul.
Memorials may be made to the family for an educational fund for his siblings, or to the Champaign County Humane Society.
